If you have the original computer box, that would be ideal, but if not, purchase a sturdy cardboard box, a large roll of bubble wrap, and plenty of packing paper to guarantee the computer does not move around during transport. Ensure you have enough plastic bags to keep cords and cables labeled, tied, and separated.
TIP #2: TAKE CARE OF THE MONITOR
The monitor is the most fragile part of your computer, so it is critical to keep it protected well during the move.
First, remove the monitor stand if possible and pack it in a separate area. Wrap the whole monitor in packing paper, just like you were going to wrap a present and then cut a piece of thick cardboard to match the screen dimensions. Put these around the monitor and attach with tape, then put a sheet of bubble wrap over it.
Make sure the box is labeled as fragile, so movers are cautious with it.
TIP #3: PACK THE ACCESSORIES
If you have other items to go with your computer, such as a tower, keyboard, mouse, or speakers, ensure that they are all wrapped in paper or bubble wrap and labeled well. When you fold cords and cables, make sure they are not twisted too much, or it could cause permanent damage.
Before you start packing, ensure that all your information is backed up on an external hard drive, so you don’t risk losing everything once it is unplugged. Once the items are loaded into a box, double tape the bottom and top.
